Matt "D" Dynan, is a native to St. Paul, MN. He has been playing guitar for 20 years and songwriting for 11 years. Although he started spending time in the studio 10 years ago recording songs, he will be putting out his debut album on july 15th. “The Majestic Sands of Time”, includes songs written over a decade ago to songs written in the last few years. “The Majestic Sands of Time” is a thematic album in that all the tracks have something to do with Spirituality.
Matt initially picked up guitar, to try and be like the blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughn. After about 8 years of real effort, he discovered he had a better knack for songwriting, and from that point on he insisted it was best to try to become the best songwriter he could be, leaving his dreams of being Stevie behind.
Once he started writing songs he started looking closer at those who already were established songwriters. Some of his favorite include: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Ben Harper, Tom Petty, John Prine, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Jack Johnson. Just like most people, he has a much longer list of songwriters and bands that he truly loves.
Matt can go country, blues, rock, and pop, but folk is what he says is most in his soul. Perhaps his greatest achievement is that he has found a way to incorporate meaningful and insightful lyrics into his songs that have the potential to help people to overcome the suffering that can be so common in life.

“There’s Always a Calm After the Storm”
Matt “D” Dynan
Remember all those years
When you could not shed a tear
And nothing you did could calm your nasty nerves from shaking
Well, this all too shall pass
So take off your mask
And remember there’s always a calm after the storm
So don’t fright if the light is shining too bright
Or if darkness is all that surrounds you
There’s a light inside your soul
And this too you shall know
There’s always a calm after the storm
And the crowd that sneers
Is only holding back a tear
For their mistaken freedom to misfortune
And while the songs that you sing
May not be fit for a king
But what does a bad songwriter really know about good politics anyway
And don’t forget to breathe
When your’re stuck out at this sea
Long after your logical mind has lost its rights for bragging
In your weakness He is strong
And don’t forget that you belong
No matter what your convoluted society influenced voices have been telling you
And as the pieces of your past
Get shattered into glass
Don’t forget the lessons you earned for they will bother you
And it’s only a dream
Although it may not seem
At least its something that will make you feel better
And you need to take what you can
When the waves are crashing in
And your whole world is slamming and banging
And there will come a day
When everything will be ok
Or even better yet you might just find yourself truthfully smiling
But until then my friend
Take a deep breath in
And remember there’s always a calm after the storm
